Can't believe it took so long to get to everyone about the hafla! (Although I did a little pic posting on Facebook.) March 21st was a beautiful day, and we had a great time at the hafla. I was scared of a wardrobe malfunciton, even with practicing in my costume and previous wearing. (That is me in the turquoise cabaret costume.) We performed "Fortune Teller" and things went well. We also got to teach a move to the audience, which was fun. The kids especially were getting into it. We also did the hokey pokey belly dance style, very fun. I enjoyed myself! Now that folks know that we know what we are doing, our show is on the road. Next stop, Cinco de Mayo!

Time for a Hafla!
Okay, I am a little nervous. I am preparing fro my very first dance recital. At my age? Yes - and it is a belly dancing party (aka hafla)! I am a little nervous, but it is all the preparations that go into the halfa that a getting a little crazy. Hair, face, makeup, nails, shaving, tanning, costume, cover up , food, zils, veil just to mane a few. For those in Cheyenne, the hafla is Sat night (3/21) at 7 pm. For the rest, you will have to wait for the pictures!

Is winter done yet?
Okay- the signs of spring are everywhere - weather is warmer (in the 60's last week), trees are budding, and even a few bulbs are popping up. Then snow. Not enough to have a snow day (which I would absolutely love to have). Just enough to make driving slippery. Is winter done yet? Not much else to report, busy with the office as usual, trying to get my fellowship done. And bellydancing. Got a big hafla coming up on March 21st! I will let you know how it goes!

Belly dance crazy!
Thursday nights are for belly dancing. Okay, maybe Wayne doesn't participate, but Aspen likes to! I have learning all the cool things about different belly dance moves and I am really having a great time! Aspen likes to dance with veils, which we say is "dancing like a butterfly." Aspen even picked out her own fabric for her veil. I have been working on costuming, and getting a little at a time. Wayne and I are going to a big Halloween party next week so I will wear my new costume (maybe breaking a few belly dance rules there). Check back for pictures!
